Airport
The closest airports are Manchester Airport, Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Leeds Bradford Airport, all three offering a range of domestic and international flights. From any of these airports, you can hire a car or take a taxi to reach Greendale Teahouse & Rooms. If you prefer public transport, there are train services available to Clitheroe direct from Manchester airport, though a taxi from the station will be necessary.
Bus
Public transport options include the local bus services that connect you to various nearby towns and villages. The nearest bus stops are walkable from Greendale Teahouse & Rooms.
The Bus Interchange in Clitheroe is conveniently located next to the railway station, making it easy to transfer between bus and train services.
Bus numbers 66, 66S, and 67 come past Greendale Teahouse, with stops in either Chatburn or Downham. Although it’s not their official practice, some friendly bus drivers may stop right in front of the Teahouse to let passengers off, but they typically don’t pick up here.

Bikes & Bicycles
At Greendale Teahouse & Rooms, we understand the joy of cycling amidst the stunning landscapes of the Forest of Bowland. We offer bicycle storage on-site, ensuring your bike is stored under cover while you enjoy your stay.
You’ll be pleased to know that several national cycle routes pass nearby, making it easy to explore the area on two wheels. Notable among them is National Cycle Route 68, which traverses the scenic Ribble Valley and connects the Yorkshire Dales to the West Midlands. This route combines quiet roads and off-road tracks, allowing cyclists to immerse themselves in the breathtaking views of the countryside.
Additionally, the Bowland by Bike initiative offers a selection of routes tailored to various skill levels, winding through picturesque villages and past local attractions. A detailed leaflet provides five routes of differing lengths and surfaces, catering to cyclists of all abilities .

Car
Travelling to Greendale Teahouse & Rooms by car is the most convenient way to explore the stunning landscapes of the Forest of Bowland. We’re conveniently located just off the A59, making it easy to reach us from nearby towns and cities.
Directions: From Clitheroe, take the A59 towards Skipton. After approximately 3 miles, take the turning onto the B6243 towards Chatburn. Follow the signs to Downham, turning right at Hudson’s Ice Cream shop. Greendale is situated about half a mile out of the village on the left after you’ve crossed the road bridge over the A59.
If you’re coming from Skipton, head along the A59 towards Clitheroe. Turn right off the A59 to pas through the village of Chatburn, continue for about a mile, and turn left at Hudson’s Ice Cream shop. Travel for another half mile or so, crossing the road bridge over the A59 and you’ll see Greendale on your left.
Parking: We offer ample on-site parking for guests, so you can leave your vehicle safely while you enjoy your stay.
Fuel Stations: The nearest fuel stations can be found in Chatburn and Clitheroe, so you can fill up before setting off on your adventures in the surrounding area.
Electric Vehicle Charging Point: While we currently don’t have an EV charging point in our car park, the nearest charging station is conveniently located in Clitheroe town centre, just a short drive away. You’ll find a bp pulse charging point on York Street, making it easy to top up your electric vehicle while you explore the charming town. Train
Reaching Greendale Teahouse & Rooms by train is both convenient and scenic. The nearest railway station is Clitheroe, which is approximately 3 miles away from us. Clitheroe Station is served by trains from Manchester, Blackburn, and Burnley, making it easily accessible from major cities in the North West .
Upon arrival at Clitheroe Station, you have a couple of options to get to Greendale Teahouse. You can take a short taxi ride, or if you prefer a bit of exercise, it’s a good one hour walk from the station, so not advisable with luggage. Alternatively, as mentioned earlier, you can catch local bus services (numbers 66, 66S, and 67) that run from Clitheroe to Chatburn .
For those travelling from further afield, Preston Station is the nearest mainline station, offering connections to Clitheroe. From Preston, you can take a train to Blackburn and then transfer to a train to Clitheroe .
