Useful to know and
helping you with your visit
Are you open?
Absolutely! You’ll be pleased to hear that the Teahouse is open for breakfast, brunch and cakes five days a week while our cozy Bed & Breakfast Rooms await your arrival seven days a week. For our current opening hours, just take a peek at the bottom of our website or visit our listing on Google Maps. Plus, we do take a few short breaks each year to recharge our own batteries, but don't worry – we always announce these about four weeks in advance right here on our website!
Planned annual closures for 2025 are: 6 - 15 May, 12 - 21 August and 11 - 20 November.
Do you allow dogs at Greendale Teahouse & Rooms?
Dogs are very welcome at Greendale Teahouse & Rooms. Well-behaved pups are more than welcome to accompany you to our tearoom, where they might even make some new furry friends – regulars Dylan, Blaze, Digger, Bismarck, Woody and others are always ready for a wagging tail! All we ask is that you look after your pooch and keep them close to you and with consideration to your fellow diners. If you’re booking an overnight stay, you can bring your dog too. There will be a charge of £10 per dog per night and we'll even provide a comfy doggy bed if you haven’t brought your own. Just let us know when you make your booking – we can't wait to roll out the red carpet for both you and your four-legged friend.
Can I reserve a table in the tearoom?
We don’t take table bookings, and we’d like to explain why we’ve made this decision. Greendale Teahouse & Rooms is all about a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. With our cosy space, managing reservations just isn’t practical—too often, we were left with empty tables when plans change. Instead, we run on a first-come, first-served basis, ensuring a fair and easygoing experience for everyone. We find that people don’t have to wait too long even during the busiest times, to be seated. Though if you’re planning to bring a group of 5 or more people, read on below.
Rest assured though, as soon as you arrive, we’ll do everything we can to seat you as quickly as possible and make your visit special.
For groups of five or more, we do ask that you get in touch via the link below (we’re very often busy cooking or looking after guests and answering the phone is a challenge in its own). If you’re a party of eight or more, a pre-order would be much appreciated—it helps us serve you better and keeps everything running smoothly. When we reserve a table for larger bookings, we kindly ask that you arrive on time, as we can only hold a table for 15 minutes. We truly appreciate your understanding and can’t wait to welcome you!
Click here to request a table for five or more.
Please note that your table is not confirmed until you receive confirmation from us.
Will you be busy when we come?
We’d love to predict the future, but unfortunately, our crystal ball is out of order! What we do know is that our reputation is growing, and we’re getting busier all the time. Weekends are usually bustling, with peak times from 9:00 for breakfast and 12:00–14:00 for lunch. During the week, Monday and Thursday tend to be our busiest days, while Fridays are usually a little calmer—but we can never be sure!
Our all-day brunch menu means you can enjoy our food throughout, though last orders are taken 30 minutes before closing or when we’ve sold out of our fresh food. If the kitchen is closed, you can often still enjoy a slice of cake and a cup of tea—but closing time really does mean closing time!
If you’re planning a visit, just come along—we’ll always do our best to find you a spot!
Are you open in the evening?
No, we pour everything into making our food from scratch, and opening in the evening would simply be too much! Having said that, did you know that we host special evening events from time to time, so if you’d like to be the first to hear about them, sign up for our newsletter at the bottom of this page.
Do you offer options for those with dietary requirements or food allergies?
At Greendale Teahouse & Rooms, we hand-craft every dish in house, with lots of care and attention. Our dedication extends to offering options for various dietary needs. For instance, we take pride in creating our own gluten-free bread and frequently feature special gluten-free treats. We're happy to tweak some of our menu items, wherever possible, to cater to individual dietary requirements. Additionally, we strive to offer delicious vegan and vegetarian-friendly dishes.
It’s important to note that our kitchen space is limited, and while we maintain rigorous standards, a chance of cross-contamination is possible. Your safety is paramount to us, so please don't hesitate to let us know about any dietary restrictions before placing your order. We're here to make your dining experience enjoyable and worry-free.
Do you offer a takeaway service?
While we don't typically offer takeout food, we do have a limited selection of items available for takeaway on our menu. These include hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and some cakes. If you're interested in grabbing a quick bite on the go, feel free to ask about our available takeaway options when you visit us.
Can I buy your bread?
We're truly flattered by the demand for our delicious home baked bread, but sadly we currently do not offer loaves for retail sale. Our small team is dedicated to providing freshly baked bread for our guests to enjoy during their visit, and unfortunately, we are unable to keep up with the demand for retail sales. We appreciate your understanding and invite you to come and enjoy our homemade bread during your visits to Greendale Teahouse & Rooms.
Is Greendale Teahouse & Rooms an accessible venue?
We understand the importance of accessibility for all our guests. Our charming Victorian-era building predates the installation of lifts, please note that there are stairs leading to the bedrooms. We've taken steps to make your visit as comfortable as possible; although there's a gravel path from the car park to the front entrance, we've reserved a small parking area at the front of the house for those with reduced mobility, allowing for easier access to the teahouse.
However, we want to be transparent about the challenges you may encounter during your visit. From the main dining room, there are a couple of steps to navigate towards the toilets, and regrettably, we do not have an accessible washroom.
Your comfort and convenience are important to us, and we're continuously exploring ways to improve accessibility and ensure that all guests feel welcome and accommodated during their time at Greendale Teahouse & Rooms.
Are you licensed?
In deed we are! We’re all about enjoyment of the finer things in life here at Greendale Teahouse & Rooms - we're fully licensed and have partnered with the Wright Wine Company, Skipton, to bring you an exciting selection of wines. From crisp whites to bold reds, our small but carefully curated wine list is sure to tantalise your taste buds. And if you're looking for something bubbly, we've got you covered with single-serve bottles of Prosecco or larger bottles of fantastic Cava!
But the excitement for a tipple doesn't stop there. We also have a small selection of Belgian beers, perfect for those looking to explore new flavours. And when the chill sets in, warm up with a glass of Michael's renowned mulled wine, guaranteed to add a touch of festive cheer to any occasion.
At Greendale Teahouse & Rooms, we're passionate about creating memorable foodie experiences, and our drinks selection is no exception. Join us and raise a glass to good times and great company!

Do you have rooms suitable for families?
While we don't have specific family rooms or interconnecting rooms, we do have one room that's spacious enough to accommodate a travel cot for a baby or toddler, provided guests bring their own. Unfortunately, small children wouldn't be able to stay in a separate room due to our room layout.
However, if we have the availability, teenagers could stay in a separate room from their parents. Just let us know your needs when booking, and we'll do our best to accommodate your family comfortably. We're here to ensure your stay at Greendale Teahouse & Rooms is enjoyable for everyone!
Do you offer Afternoon Tea?
While we don’t serve a formal afternoon tea on a tiered stand, we do offer a charming ‘tea in the afternoon’ selection focused on quality and flavour. We’re constantly at work in our small kitchen crafting homemade delights, from freshly baked scones and cakes to savoury sandwiches – all handmade with care and the finest ingredients.
A unique tea list curated exclusively for us by Quinteassential and great coffee roasted by the experts at Heavenly Coffee Company, are served throughout the afternoon, making it a lovely time to settle in, relax, and savour the simple joys of good food in cosy surroundings. It’s our long term intention to serve a more formal afternoon tea experience in future but can’t yet commit when that will be, so why not sign up for our newsletter below? You’ll be first to know!
Can I buy a whole one of Zoe’s cakes?
Yes, you can! Zoe’s cakes are something special, and we’re happy to make a whole one just for you. We need about a week’s notice to work our magic. A round cake serves at least 12 generous slices and starts from £54, while a loaf cake comfortably feeds 8 people and starts from £32. If you’d like to place an order, just get in touch—we’d love to bake something delicious for you!
